Protect Your Vision. Ensure Your Eye Health.

Think about it for a second: how much do we use our eyes every single day? Of course we use them for “seeing”, but we also use them to comprehend our surroundings, help make decisions, communicate, even pilot and control our own bodies. That’s quite a bit of responsibility!

This is why it is important for you to take the time to book your eye examinations on a regular basis. It is recommended by The Canadian Association of Optometrists to undergo at least one examination every 2 to 3 years, however most optometrists recommend annual appointments. These examinations are critical to not only managing your vision problems, but also monitoring the health and development of your eyes.

As we grow older (and we all do), it becomes increasingly important to know how healthy our eyes are, as unseen disease and conditions can steal your vision if they aren’t caught early enough.

So don’t wait! Please book an eye exam with us today and take control over the health of your eyes.

The Importance of an Eye Exam

Unseen eye diseases and conditions can irreversibly damage your vision if they aren’t caught early enough. A lot of people tend to forget this when thinking about their eye health.

Diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and even cataracts are all asymptomatic in their early stages, and their development could lead to blindness without proper treatment. At Ocean Optometry, we run your eyes through a comprehensive list of tests and examinations designed to check for early warning signs so you can help protect your vision.

What Can You Expect From an Eye Exam?

So, you’ve made it to your eye examination. What’s next?

At the beginning of all of our eye exams, we start off with a simple chat about you, your health history, and your family’s health history. Your optometrist will answer any questions you may have about your eye health and orientate the exam to address these concerns.

After the initial conversation, it’s on to the rest of the exam! Your optometrist will go through a variety of tests to check for your visual acuity, strength, and the overall health of your eyes. This will provide us with a comprehensive view of your eye health before we move on to the next and final part of the exam: choosing your glasses!

After determining what prescription you require, you will be then led by our opticians to find the perfect pair of glasses for you. We don’t only look for what is functional, we look for what is right for you in terms of colour, design, and size. This is not just a random search through a display, but an expertly guided experience to find you eyewear you fall in love with.

If glasses aren’t your style, maybe you are a good candidate for contact lenses. Our optometrists will provide a complete fitting service, ensuring that the contact lenses correct your vision as best as possible, fit comfortably, while interacting with your eye safely. You will have an informative lesson, teaching you how to insert, remove, and take care of your new contact lenses.

Your vision is not only important to you, it’s important to us. We work tirelessly to give you the best experience while also finding effective treatments and solutions to help solve or mitigate your symptoms.
